      A Visit to CCTV 03/13/2012

Last Tuesday I went to the CCTV. (CCTV
      stands for Chinese Central
TeleVision) I got invited to vote in an entertainment program
called 非常 6+1. In this program people dance and sing, then the judges say
two stars and a wish, after everybody performed the audience votes.

           This
time my friend, Bruno performed. He was the only child, all the other people
      were 23 and up!

           That
day I went out of school early, walked a little to the bus stop, and came home.
I quickly ate some penne with Swedish tomato sauce and then undressed from my
uniform and put on a nice dress. My mom looked at her watch and frowned, we
quickly hurried to the subway, waited for the train and in the end, we got in
the train. After we passed 12 stations we finally got to the military museum.
We crossed the street and found a
guard. We asked the guard where the west gate is. He gave a sad answer: on the
      other end of the building.

On the way in I  met Bruno. Together we waited till all
the people gathered  there. After all the people came  we came into a
huge hall. Bruno changed his clothes and went behind the curtains. A lady came
out and told us that they had to have the applause very loud so in the beginning
we had to clap for ages (my hands even got sore). Suddenly they counted down …
By 0 the director shouted“Action!” (In Chinese).  All
the participants went on stage, introduced themselves and number 1 started
singing. ..  Then Bruno (Number 3)
went onstage. He sang and danced great! After the 6 participants finished
singing the audience (including me) started to vote…

The two people who got voted off faces will appear on a huge screen. Everyone stared at the
screen in silence as two faces appeared
some people (including me) we cheering so hard are throats were soar,
while the other people sighed. Bruno got in the second round!

After a break, the second round began.
Everyone performed beautifully. I stared at the screen … I saw Bruno’s face .
Half of the audience sighed loudly and the other half cheered on…

In the end Bruno was pretty happy, after all ,he got in the second round.
Together in Bruno’s car we chatted. The 45 minute ride passed quickly. When we
got to our home I was already asleep…

      Chinese New Year 02/06/2012

In China, the New Year is not in December but in January or February. There is an very interesting legend about the Chinese New Year, it goes like this:

One day, the Chinese gods decided there must be an animal for each year. There would be an running competition to decide which animals would be in the zodiac.

The day before the concert, the cat asked the mouse to wake him up the next day.

The next morning the mouse woke up and looked at the sleeping cat.

“Who cares about the cat, anyway,  I will get rid of one contestants” she thought.  So she left the snoring cat alone and went toward the starting line.  From then on cats always hated mice.

The race began, The animals ran as fast as they could. In the beginning the first one was the cow, then came the mouse and third was the tiger. But suddenly the mouse had a good idea of how to win the race. She came up to the cow and said,

“Cow, I will sing a song for you, OK?” “Great idea!” replied the cow.

After a while the cow asked the mouse just as the mouse planned it “I can’t really hear you, could you come closer?”

“Oh sorry… I could sit on your back, that way you could hear me.” “Great idea! Come up!” The mouse climbed onto the cows back and sang the song for him.

The finish line was close. The mouse leaned forward on the cows head and jumped as far she could. She landed right at the finished line.

In the end the mouse came first, the cow second, the tiger third, the rabbit fourth, the dragon fifth, the snake sixth, the horse seventh, the sheep eighth, the monkey ninth, the chicken tenth, the dog eleventh and last but not least, the pig.

In China there is a custom to put out fireworks and glue red posters around their door because there is a mythical creature, Nian, that is supposed to come and eat people, but the monster is scared of loud noise and the color red.

P.S. I am a sheep, what are you?
